Abstract:
In this paper, the mechanical properties of 3D-braided carbon and Kevlar fibres hybrid reinforced monomer cast nylon (HF/MCPA) are studied. The impact, shear and flexural properties of HF/MCPA are tested. The results show that HF/MCPA has excellent impact, shear and flexural properties. With increasing of carbon fibre volume fraction, the impact property of HF/MCPA decreases, the transverse shear property rises and then fall, the lengthwise then property increases and reaches the top at the ratio of CF:KF=3∶2, and the bending strength and modulus rises and then fall after reaching the top.
