Abstract:
A new method of starch consolidation for fabrication of porous ceramics is developed with starch as both binder and pore former. The density of the preparated porous ceramics is estimated at 0.804~1.032g/cm
3 and the porosity at 65.6%~73.2%.It is indicated in tests that the ceramic slips exhibits shear-thinning behaviour with a decrease in viscosity as the increasing of rotate speed, and starch content, sintering temperature and holding time have centain effect on the porosity and density of the ceramic.
