Abstract: The surface crack in the main journal of 45 steel crank is investigated.The results suggest that it is the reticular ferrites which precipitate along grain boundary for during the quenching process of modified treatment weeken the boundary and bring about intergranular quenching cracks in intermediate frequency quenching.
