Abstract:
A dry gel was prepared from Al(NO
3)
3·9H
2O,NH
3·H
2O and 50nm SiC powder via sol-gel technology.Al
2O
3/SiC nanocomposite ceramic was produced from the dry gel by means of microwave sintering.Compared with conventional sintered Al
2O
3/SiC nanocomposite ceramic, effects of two sintering methods on the Al
2O
3/SiC nanocomposite ceramics' mechanical properties were analyzed. The results indicated that the microwave processed Al
2O
3/SiC nanocomposite ceramic appears with improved density, fracture toughness and bending strength.
