Abstract: Accurate measurement of surface crack length is necessary for obtaining surface crack growth rate so that to evaluate the residual life of material or components.The measurement methods of surface crack length were classified to straight reading method、compliance method、potential method、NDT technology and photic method,which were reviewed in this paper,and their advantages、shortcomings and application scopes were compared for a reference in the practice.
