Abstract: Chemical analysis,mechanical property tests,metallographic structure observation and fracture analysis are conducted to investigate the cause of roll shell′s fracture.The result shows that it is hydrogen embrittlement which causes the fracture and material defect and improper heat treatment are in volved in the failure of the roll shell.
