Abstract: The effects of rare earth elements on the performances of cast steel were analyzed. The results indicate that the steel with the right rare-earth additions can improve the toughness, hardness and wear resistance of steel; RE can change the amount and morphology of the inclusions, the mechanical properties are improved.
