Abstract:
A novel marine electrode has been fabricated of rayon-based carbon fiber and its electrochemical and electric field response properties have been investigated. Results indicate that the specific surface area of rayon-based carbon fiber is about 550 m
2/g, it is covered with grooves of various depth, and its contact angle is 148 °; cyclic voltammograms test shows it has a good electric double layer performance and its exchange current density is 23.7 A/m
2 by Tafel testing; potential difference drift is relatively stable after the electrodes are surged for 24 h, about 0.4 mV/24 h; the electrode pair responds well to the electric field signal of 0.01 Hz(frequency) and 10 mVpp(amplitude) and its self-noise level is 6.75 nV/√
Hz@ 1 Hz.
