Abstract:
The carburized layer was engineered onto Ti
2AlNb orthorhombic alloy by a double glow discharge plasma technique.The microstructure,elements distribution and phase composition of the carburized layer were characterized by scanning electron microscope(SEM),X-ray diffraction(XRD) and energy dispersive spectrometer(EDS).The micro hardness of the carburized layer and the substrate were measured,and erosion resistance tests were carried out to test their erosion wear resistances.The results indicated that a carburized layer,about 30 μm-thick,is formed by double glow plasma carburizing.The micro hardness of the layer is 979 HV0.1 and the substrate is 393 HV0.1.The erosion wear resistance of Ti
2AlNb alloy carburized is significantly improved.
