Abstract: Poly (hydroxymethyl EDOT) (PEDOT-OH) has been widely used as an electrode material for bioelectronics due to its excellent electrochemical performance and easy accessibility to chemical modification. In this work, the biocompatibility of PEDOT-OH by culturing NIH3T3 cells on it was evaluated. Effects of PEDOT-OH on the depressed attachment, proliferation and activation of two immune cells, the immortalized rat microglial cells (HAPI) and rat primary macrophage (RM), were investigated. The results indicate that compared with polystgrene, PEDOT-OH has depressed significantly the attachment, proliferation and activation of HAPI cells and RM cells.
