Abstract:
The expanded polystyrene (EPS) beads were coated with the epoxy resin and wollastonite fiber by the spray coating method to prepare hollow epoxy macrospheres. The effects of wollastonite fiber content, mesh number and surface modification on the properties of hollow epoxy macrospheres were studied. The results show that when mass ratio of the 200 mesh surface-modified wollastonite fibers and epoxy resin is between 0.8:1 and 1:1, the density of the hollow epoxy macrospheres can reach 0.3 g/cm
3 and the compressive strength can reach 6 MPa, which could meet the actual using requirements of solid buoyancy materials.
