Abstract:
Temperature-gradient ESSO tests with different impact energies were carried out on EH47 hull steel with thickness of 90 mm to evaluate the effect of impact energy. Results indicate that-10℃ crack arrest toughness under the minimum impact energy is consistent with that obtained by double tension test, while-10℃ crack arrest toughness under maximum impact energy according to WES:2815-2014 is obviously lower than the former two results. It is suggested that the minimum impact energy should be chosen in ESSO test.
