Abstract:
The research status of CMT welding technology for titanium alloy was introduced. Compared with the conventional TIG and MIG welding, CMT welding is characterized by low heat input and no spattering. With this technology, welding heat input can be reduced significantly, so high efficiency and quality titanium alloy welding can be achieved. CMT welding is mostly used in the welding of dissimilar metals so far, no systematic studies on welding mechanism, procedure, microstructure and mechanical properties of the joints have been carried out, which can be the new development direction of CMT welding of titanium alloy.
