Abstract: The necessity of lightweight design for key hot end components of diesel engine, and the advantages and application status of γ-TiAl alloys in this field were generally reviewed. The challenges and difficulties faced large-scale industrial application of γ-TiAl alloys were mainly described, and suggestions on the composition design of low-cost γ-TiAl alloys for diesel engines were put forward.
