Abstract:
The PP/HGMS composite is prepared by vacuum hot pressing with polypropylene(PP) as the matrix and high-performance hollow glass microspheres(HGMS) as the filler. The effects of HGMS filling volume fraction on the density, tensile strength, compressive strength, shear strength and water absorption of composites are studied, and the micro-morphologies of composite fractures is analyzed. The results show that the PP/HGMS composites with excellent properties can be prepared by vacuum hot pressing. When the volume fraction of HGMS reaches 50%, the density of the composite decreases to 0.645 g/cm
3, the compressive strength reaches 35.64 MPa and the water absorption is 1.41%.
