Abstract: Magnesium alloy has low density and high strength, and has been widely used in aviation, aerospace, transportation, chemical industry and other fields in recent years. Here are reviewed properties of magnesium and magnesium alloys, corrosion mechanism of magnesium alloys and the current researches. Besides, surface characteristics, surface treatment principles and technologies and future development are introduced.
