Temperature-gradient double tension test, drop weight test and tensile test with standard circular cross-section specimens are conducted on Q500qE high-strength bridge steels. Crack arrest temperature CAT
, nil-ductility transition temperature TNDT
, and yield strength Rel
are obtained. A correlation formula is proposed to describe relationship between CAT
and plate thickness t. The Deviation between the crack arrest temperature calculated by the proposed formula and that tested by double tension test is within ±5℃, indicating the validity of the proposed formula on describing correlation between crack arrest temperature, nil-ductility transition temperature, yield strength and plate thickness.
