Synthesis and Antifouling Properties of Imidazo 4,5-f 1,10-phenanthroline Zn(Ⅱ) Complexes

  • The monomer L1 is synthesized by modifying the thiophene substituent with imidazo 4,5-f 1,10-phenanthroline as the parent, and the monomer L1 is ligated with Zn2+ by the solvothermal method to obtain the complex a, namely Zn(phen)2L1·2ClO4, and the structure of L1 and complex a are characterized. The results of the anti-algae experiment show that when the concentration of complex a is ≥5 mg/L, the growth of Chlorella salina, Nitzschia closterium f.minutissima and Phaeodactylum tricornutum can be greatly inhibited. The results of the antibacterial experiments show the complex a can well inhibit the growth of E. coli and Bacillus subtilis. The reason is that the complex a can be absorbed into the surfaces of the two bacteria, and contribute to cell disruption. Besides, the complex a causes a significant increase in the reactive oxygen level of E. coli, leading to their death. The antifouling performance of the complex a is proved to be good by the sea hanging board test.
