Effects of Forging Treatment on the Strength and Toughness of White Iron
A white iron with certain composition was investigated through forging process,which diminished the cementite network and refined the base microstructure.The results of the property tests show that the impact toughness of the forged white iron was highly increased from 0.16~0.24J to 1.6~3.6J with its hardness being kept within a range of HRC40~46 and the abrasive wear property was also improved.
