Abstract
The solidification process of a Fe-C alloy containing high vanadium is investigated through unidirectional solidification and quenching test with reference to metallographic and phase composition examination with OM,EDS EMPA and DTA.The results show that during the solidification, primary VC crystal separates out from liquid first and then eutectic reactions carry out in the sequence of L→γ+MC and L→γ+MC+MC2.The V element exists mainly as MC carbide and the Mo and Cr elements as MC2 carbide.
