Effect of Rare Earth on Corrosion of AZ91 Magnesium Alloy in NaCl Solution
The effect of yttrium on corrosion behavior of AZ91 magnesium alloy was studied in 3.5%NaCl solution by means of weight loss and polarization curves.The result show that there is polyhedral compound in AZ91 alloy which is identified as YAl2 by EDX analysis and yttrium can refine microstructure of AZ91 magnesium alloy and reduce corrosion rate of the alloy.
