Microstructure and Property of Plasma Immersion Ion Implanted Layer in Steel 45

  • A new plasma immersion ion implantation(PIII) technique was employed for implanting nitrogen ions in steel 45.The composition,microstructure and property of the implanted layer were analyzed.The results showed that the profile distribution of the nitrogen concentration in the implanted layers may be characterized as Gauss,much nitride phase appears in the layer,and the microhardness and friction property of the layer are improved obviously.
