Development of a Sound Absorbing Gypsum-Based Porous Composite Material

  • A new type of sound absorbing material was made from super-strength gypsum and glass fiber and the sound absorp-tion coefficient of the material was tested by standing wave tube method.Experiment results manifested that content of fiber, blowing agent,water-gypsum ratio and thickness have great effects on the sound absorbing performance of the samples. When the content of glass fiber, blowing agent and water-gypsum ratio are separately 3%,0.4% and 0.7,the performace of the mate-rial reaches optimum. The noise reduction coefficient of the material is 0.6,and the sound absorption property at middle-low fre-quency is good.
