Effect of Electrolyte Concentration on Electrolyte Failure in Magnesium Alloy Micro-arc Oxidization

  • A compact and smooth ceramic coat was prepared on the surface of magnesium alloy through micro-arc oxidation(MAO) treatment in silicate electrolyte with self-manufactured equipment.Effects of some factors, such as concentrations of SiO32-,F- and OH- on max treatment area before inactivation were investigated by orthogonal test. The results showed that concentrations of OH-,F- and SiO32- influence the max treatment area obviously in sequence OH-,F- and SiO32-.A optimized electrolyte composition should be OH-:7g/L;F-:8g/L;SiO32-:15g/L.
