Study on the Spheroidization of Titanium Powders in a Radio Frequency Plasma

  • Spherical titanium (Ti) particles were obtained by heating irregularly shaped Ti powders under radio frequency plasma (RF plasma) condition.The effect of feed rate, different disperse ways and Ti particle size on spheroidization efficiency was studied, and the morphology of the Ti powders was observed under SEM befor and after plasma spheroidization.It is proved that RF plasma is a promising method for preparation of spherical titanium powders with high flowability.
