Preparation of CMC-g-AM/SiO2 Superabsorbent Hybrid Material

  • Superabsorbent hybrid material is synthesized by sol-gel method with CMC-g-AM as the organic phase and SiO2 as inorganic phase which is introduced from ethyl silicate (TEOS).The influence of synthetic condition on the properties of the materials is discussed systematically and the structure of the material is characterized by FTIR and SEM.An optimized preparation condition is determined as following:the fitting temperature of polymerization is 60℃, the ratio of AM to CMC is 5:1, the amount of the TEOS, initiator and crosslinker are 10%, 1.0%and 0.06% of the monomer respectively.The water absorbency, sanlinity water absorbency and monomer fractional conversion of CMC-g-AM/SiO2 superabsorbent can reach 1210g/g, 105g/g, 82% respectively.
