Preparation Key Technical Analysis of TiO2 Electrode in the Production of Titanium by Electrolysis in Molten Salt

  • TiO2 electrode is both a conductor and sources in the production of sponge titanium by molten salt electrolysis.In preparation of the electrode,to ensure electric current and meet the technology requirement of molten salt infiltration is a key pinot of contradiction,which will impact the technique process.In connection with above mentioned problems,theoretical analysis,detection of resistivity and porosity in different temperature were conducted and an optimized technical process was preposed.A number of electrolysis experiments showed that the sponge titanium made from the electrode which was prepared by the optimized process contains more than 99.5% titanium.The current supply was also modifed according to the electrolysis experiments and the electric current could reach as high as 40A,which makes a large breakthrough in process.
