Influence of Abrasive Blasting on Properties of Al Alloys

Surface preparation plays an important role in improving physical and mechanical properties of Al alloys,and it is essential to select surface preparation method carefully.Surface roughness,microcosmic morphology,and residual stress of some Al alloys,before and after abrasive blasting were investigated by using POLYVAR metallography microscope,JSM-5600 electron microscope and X-ray diffraction analytical apparatus.The results showed that after preparation of abrasive blasting of the alloys samples,surface roughness increased evidently,rolling crack distributing on surface of the alloys disappeared and residual stress distributed evenly along the surface.
