Study in the Interface Reaction Zone of Aluminium-steel Explosion-bonded Clad Plate

  • The interface reaction zone of aluminium-steel explosion-bonded clad plate have been studied by using TEM,SEM and EDS.The results show that the interface exhibits sine-like wave shape,interdiffusion between Al and Fe occured in the interface with a thickness of a few micrometers.Microhardness in the interface increased after explosion in the eddies of interface is three to six times of basic metal.The interface consists of amorphous and crystalline phases,intermetallics such as FeAl,FeAl2,FeAl3 and Fe24Al76.
