Development of Advanced GMAW Technology

  • GMAW plays an important role in the welding engineering for its good characteristics. However,its shortcomings are high heat input,poor shaping,welding spatter and poor flexibility in all position welding which limit it using in important products. The development of power electronics and digital control technology is expected to solve above problem. In this paper is summarized the development of advanced GMAW technology,including CP welding technology,coldarc welding technology,CMT-Pulse MIX,and Super-MIG welding technology. These advanced technologies adopt advanced inverter and controlling technology,make much improvement in droplet transition,welding spatter control,low heat input and the weld quality and efficiency are subsequently improved.
