The Effects of Environment Factors on Bacterial Adhesion

  • Microbiofouling has become the main problem of the ship and marine engineering.Bacterial biofilm is very hard to avoid and has the characteristics of mediating the adhesion of marine invertebrate larvaes. Therefore, controlling bacterial biofilm has become one of the most important thing in antifouling research field. In this article,Bacillus subtilis and Escherichia coli were used to investigate the influence of temperature, salinity,pH and substrate on bacteria adhesion. The results indicated that bacteria, adhesion was influenced by temperature, salinity and pH significantly(P< 0.01),indicating that biofilm formation is influenced by environmental parameter, and so controling biofilm formation and proventing from biofouling via regulating these parameters is feasible.
