A Comparative Analysis on Crack Arrest Temperature and Crack Arrest Toughness of Ship Steels

  • A comparative analysis was conducted on crack arrest temperature and crack arrest toughness based on temperaturegradient double tension test results of AH36, EH36 and FH500 ship steels. Analysis results indicate that comparing with crack arrest toughness, crack arrest temperature shows good testing stability and engineering feasibility. It is suggested that crack arrest temperature may be used as a parameter to characterize the steels of ship crack arrest property.
