Effect of Rare Earth Element on the Mechanical Properties of Cast Steel

The effects of rare earth elements on the performances of cast steel were analyzed. The results indicate that the steel with the right rare-earth additions can improve the toughness, hardness and wear resistance of steel; RE can change the amount and morphology of the inclusions, the mechanical properties are improved.
