Seven hundred sets of data from tension and impact test of low alloy steel were analyzed.Resultsindicate that tension strength- plasticity parameter and impact toughness are correlative. Strength ratio SR is proposed as a new toughness parameter based on the above analysis. The relation of strength ratio and impact toughness of low alloy steel can be expressed as KV2=-83.413 67+61.471 08·Rm/Rp0.2·(1-Z) or KV2=-221.538 54+286.857 87·ln/Rm/Rp0.2·(1-Z).
