Research on Molding Process and Property of Automobile Composite Wheel

  • The mechanical properties in different impact directions of carbon fiber composites molded by autoclave were studied,different fiber cloth cutting patterns were designed and the utilization rate of materials was analysized. Three-part molds were developed in favor of laying up fiber cloth and demolding. The autoclave forming process was optimized,and the 13° impact test was conducted. The results show that impact direction has great influence on the impact performance of fiber composites,and when the impact direction is parallel with the lay-up direction,the composites show much better performance,so the laying up should be optimized according to the actual conditions; the utilization rate of materials reaches to 83.8% by proper cloth cutting design,which makes cost less and operation easier; the composite wheel shows no fracture under the 13° impact test with 600 kg of impact load,meeting the impact property for automobile wheels.
