Influence of Welding Methods on Fatigue Properties of 10Ni5CrMoV Steel Welded Joints

  • Tabular fatigue specimen were designed by overlaying a single-pass welding on the surface of 10Ni5CrMoV steel whose yield strength reached to 785 MPa by three kinds of welding methods of SMAW, GMAW and SAW. Researches were conducted on the influences of the three kinds of welding methods on fatigue properties of 10Ni5CrMoV steel welded joints. Results indicated that, for the single layer surfacing welded specimen, the stress concentration of welding toe had a main influence on the fatigue crack life, which shortened with the increase of the stress concentration. Among the three welding methods of SMAW, SAW and GMAW, the stress concentration of GMAW was the highest, and the fatigue crack life the lowest; the stress concentration of SMAW was the lowest and the fatigue crack life highest.
