Fatigue Performance Test Research on Transition Welded Joint of Marine Aluminum-Steel Composite Plate for Ship of a Certain Type

  • Fatigue performance tests on the transition joint of the aluminum and steel clad plate for ship of a certain type were carried out according to the application requirements.Results showed that the transition joint didn't fracture for 2 × 106 cycles when the stress value was within 80~196 MPa, showing that the stress value could meet the designing requirements. When the stress value reached 224 Mpa, the fatigue life couldn't meet the designing requirements. Through the analysis of SEM images of the fractures, the holes along the edges of the eddies in the Al-Al interface were confirmed as the source of fracture.
