Developing of Flux of Stainless Steel Containing Nb or Ti for Wire Electrode Submerged Arc Welding

  • A flux for wire electrode submerged arc welding of stainless steel containing Nb or Ti has been developed. Slag sticking has been avoided by controlling the total amount of SiO2 within the scope of 7.55%~8.15%. The agglomerated flux adopted CaF2-Al2O3 slag system. When the flux is matched with welding wires of ER347 and ER321, the arc is staoble, the detachability good and appearance after welding good. The agglomerated flux has metallurgy capability. The chemical composition, mechanical properties and intergranular corrosion resistance of the deposited metal are good.
