Research Status and Prospects of Anticorrosive Coating and Cathodic Protection in Deep Sea

Aniticorrosive coating and cathodic protection are effective methods for the corrosion control of subsea equipment and facilities in seawater. The investigations on protective coatings and cathodic protection used in deep-sea environment are of great significance for the guarantee of reliability and safety of subsea equipment and facilities, and the development of deep-sea equipment technology. In this article, the research status of deep-sea anticorrosive coating and cathodic protection has been introduced, the influences of deep-sea environment on the performance of organic and inorganic coatings and sacrificial anodes have been analyzed, the application of deep-sea anticorrosive coating and cathodic protection to the specific equipment and facilities has been discussed. The existing problems and challenges are pointed out, and the development directions of deep-sea anticorrosive coating and cathodic protection technology have been prospected.
