Abstract
Organic coating is an economic and feasible solution to ensure the service safety of deep-sea equipment. However, the current lack of protective coating technology for equipment in deep-sea environment limits the efficient development and utilization of deep-sea resources in China. In this paper, the current status of deep-sea coating technology is systematically summarized from four aspects: deep-sea environmental characteristics, coating evaluation methods, corrosion failure mechanism and corrosion protection strategy. The dominant mechanism of hydrostatic pressure in the process of coating failure is further clarified. The deep-sea coating design strategies of “coating modification” and “interface enhancement” are proposed. It is suggested that the future should aim at “cascade goal orientation, intelligent three-dimensional protection, and environmentally friendly life extension strategy” to break the bottleneck of deep-sea anticorrosive coating technology.
