Effect of Gd on Microstructure and Corrosion Resistance of Mg-Gd-Y-Zr Alloys

  • The microstructure and corrosion resistance of Mg-xGd-3Y-0.5 Zr(x=6, 8 and 10) were studied by means of metallurgical microscope, SEM and immersion corrosion experiment.The results show that Gd content significantly affects the number and distribution of the second phase. With the increase of Gd content, the number of the second-phase increases, the size decreases and the corrosion resistance decreases.
