Abstract
Due to characteristics such as high melting point, high chemical activity, and low thermal conductivity, titanium alloys have great potential for application in military and civilian fields. However, the welding process of thick-walled titanium alloy components still face many difficulties, such as low welding efficiency, uneven microstructure and properties, and insufficient joint plasticity and toughness. In this paper, the research status of four welding processes for producing thick-walled titanium alloy components is summarized, including electron beam welding, tungsten inert gas arc welding, gas metal arc welding, and vacuum laser beam welding. The existing problems are identified, so are the corresponding process measures. The development trend towards achieving high efficiency and high-quality welds for thick-walled titanium alloys are prospected.
