Application Progress of Composite Material Automated Manufacturing Technology in the Shipbuilding Field

  • With the continuous development of materials and technologies, composite materials have been widely used in the shipbuilding industry due to their excellent performance, and the traditional manual molding can be no longer meet the high-performance and high-efficiency requirements for modern ships. This challenge has led to the rise of advanced manufacturing technologies, and is gradually changing the mode of ship manufacturing. The introduction of advanced manufacturing technologies such as 3D printing, automated lay-up, resin intelligent infusion, and adaptive molds assisted forming has not only significantly improved manufacturing efficiency and product quality consistency but also brought new vitality and opportunities to the shipbuilding industry. In this work, several advanced manufacturing technologies for composite materials are introduced, their practical applications in the shipbuilding industry reviewed, and their advantages and limitations discussed. This work provides insights for the future development of the domestic shipbuilding industry.
