  • Homogeneous phase electrorheological(ER) fluid was prepared using polypyrrole as the dispersed phase. The rheological properties such as shear rate, apparent viscosity and shear stress were investigated. It was found that the fluid using 1-naphthalin bromine as the dispersion medium at the electric field strength (E) of 3kV/mm, when the shear rate arrived at 12s-1, the shear stress reach maximum of 1000Pa. The shear stress and apparent viscosity decreased when temperature increased. The maximum of shear stress was only 360Pa at temperature of 50℃ and at the same condition except temperature(25℃) it increases up to 700Pa.
