The plasma welding process for 12mm thick TA5 plate was developed. Taking the advantage of keyhole effect,one-side welding with back for mation was realized. The research on the micro structure and properties of the welds was carried out and the results manifested that the strength of the welds was much the same as base metal but the ductility and toughness decreased some what.
