Aluminizing of Steel Surfaces and Its Oxidation Resistance

  • Surfaces of 45 steel and ferrite stainless steel were aluminized. The microstructure and the composition of the aluminized surfaces were analyzed by means of optical microscope and scanning electron microscope(SEM),and the oxidation resistance of the samples before and after the aluminizing was investigated. The results show that the oxidation resistance of both 45 steel and ferrite steel is improved after the surface aluminizing, especially for ferrite stainless, which could replace 316L to resist high temperature oxidation at 800℃.
