  • Damping performance of viscoelastic materials are normally tested by means of DMA, but in this mothod, testing frequency range is limited and the testing results have to be calculated based on WLF principle in order to obtain a wide frequency range. This article introduces a new testing method, which is called wave-speed method, in which high frequencies damping performance of material can be tested directly. In this article, the testing principle and equipment are introduced and a viscoelastic material is tested at different temperature and 2 ~ 6 kHz frequency range. The testing results prove to be close to the DMA testing results calculated based on WLF principle.
