Effect of Ru on the Performance of Ti/Ir-Ta-Sn-Sb Anode for Electrolytic Seawater

  • Ruthenium anode has a good application prospect in chlorine electrolysis, but its life loss is fast in low temperature and low salinity seawater electrolysis. Iridium anode has excellent comprehensive performance in seawater electrolysis, but it is expensive. To study effect of Ru on the performance of iridium anode, ruthenium was added to iridium anode. The results showed that the addition of Ru resulted in irregular "concave and convex" appearance on the surface of iridium anode coating, which increased the surface area and current efficiency, but also resulted in the aggregation of Ru. It's indicated that Ru and iridium anode could not form a stable solid solution, thus reducing the service life.
