Mechanisms of cavitation erosion and its influence factors are summarized in this paper. Effect of mechanical properties and microstructures of material on its cavitation resistance is reviewed. Some progress in application of material resistant to cavitation erosion is introduced. The shortcoming in recent studies and future research highlights on cavitation erosion are presented and discussed.
