The Solidification Simulation of Zn-Al Alloy with the Consideration of Gravitational Segregation

  • The two-phase flow model of the solidification is established and the equations are differentiated and computed in 3-D cylindrical-polar coordination system by PHOENICS to simulate the gravitational segregation of the Zn-Al alloy. lt is manifested that the computed results are well in agreement with the experiments indicating the model can be used to simulate the gravitational segregation during the solidification.
